Container Image Internals
Feedback form is now closed.
Container images are the standard deployment artifact of cloud native infrastructure. They encapsulate an entire OS filesystem, including application and system level dependencies, in a simple file format the can be easily redistributed.

This talk will explain how container images are accessed on disk or in a registry over the network. The goal is for attendees to deeply understand the Docker and OCI image specifications and the TAR file format.

We will finish with the design and implementation of a new, cloud native, file format for container images that promises faster access and more efficient distribution. If you care about the performance of containerized applications, this talk is for you!
